Mary Tabata is a Ph.D. candidate in Organizational Leadership at Eastern University in St. Davids, PA. She is a Human Potential Catalyst and Teaching Academic in Leadership at Ducere Global Business School and has also taught as an adjunct professor of Organizational and Management Theory at Pepperdine University in Los Angeles, California. Mary worked at Pepperdine University as the Assistant Director for Learning and Operations for the MS, Organization Development program from 2010-2017 and has worked for several decades in higher education including, USC, UCLA, and Eastern University. Mary’s work as a Senior Research Associate for Best Practice Institute focused on leadership and talent management practices and has presented on recruitment and retention of line staff and agile practices for whole systems transformation to the BPI Board, comprised of Fortune 1000 executives. Mary is the Chair-Elect (2020) for the Philosophy, Religion, and Worldview Member Community of the International Leadership Association (ILA) and is active with the ILA, the Leadership Education Association, and the Management and Organizational Behavior Teaching Society. She serves as the Assistant Editor for the International Journal of Multicultural Education. She has served on multiple boards, including chair of the board for the Southwest California Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), chair of the Programs and Services Committee for the ELCA National Church Council, and as a board member for Solheim Lutheran Home, Lutheran Social Services of Southern California, and the Vesper Society. Mary is a Past President and Past Assistant Governor for Rotary Clubs in District 5280, Los Angeles. Mary is a leadership educator specializing in transformational and authentic leadership, women’s leadership, collaborative work, and the integration of faith, worldview, and vocational practice. Her independent consulting practice focuses on using inquiry and understanding to change organizational culture and communication and optimize leadership and leader development. She lives in Rancho Palos Verdes with her husband Michael Neils and daughter Faith and her fabulous dogs, Gracie and Emma.
